We did a tour of the forum and colosseum Sunday. We had a fantastic guide and beautiful weather.
The ruins at the forum are staggeringly huge, in part due to the megalomaniacal rulers trying to one-up the guy who came before him. Because they often would just build on top of one another, the temples and structures are from several different centuries.
The Colosseum only took 10 years to build. Impressive considering no one in Italy these days seems to ever be in any big hurry.
We happened upon this wedding scene below the Colosseum.
We had a delicious dinner that evening at an intimate little restaurant not too far from our hotel, and topped it off with some gelato. Molto bene!
