Over the river and through the woods...
We began our big adventure with a seemingly insane two week stint driving up to Colorado to visit my grandparents in Beaver Creek, Nicholas' sweet (newly engaged!) sister Katie in Breckenridge, and to spend Nicholas' birthday and our anniversary with his family at their ranch near Amarillo. The packing was a bit tricky, but it was a great chance to catch up with family before we shove off to Europe.
Beaver Creek was beautiful as always, and Annie and John showed us a wonderful time. We met some of their good friends up there, and had dinner at Grouse Mountain, where we got engaged on Nicholas' birthday 3 years ago. My sweet grandparents have been married 58 years and it was particularly special to return with them (the food was also as delicious as we remembered).
Lucky Maddie got to come along on the Colorado leg, while Georgia stayed in Amarillo with the Millers. Both were model houseguests, with the exception of a few minor terrier infractions in Amarillo...
We couldn't have asked for a better way to kick off this great trip, and hope to return next summer!
