Last day in Firenze! What should we do?
First stop, Mercato Centrale to pick up a few things...
Most were quite happy to see us, warmly greeting "Bongiorno!" and offering us samples of food.
A few were not quite so friendly.
Next, we'll head to the Duomo.
While sitting on a bench inside, the sun passes through this window and we are suddenly basking in this gorgeous, incredibly bright light. Amazing!
Now, let's mosey down to the Palazzo Pitti.
We happened upon this funny sight on the walk there.
And snapped a quick pic at the Ponte Vecchio.
Here we are. Bellisima! The palace itself is massive and opulent, but no pictures were allowed inside.
The gardens are quite pretty though. We sat here, munched on some paninis we'd picked up earlier and enjoyed the view. One side overlooks the entire city, while the other side sees this view, the beginning of the Tuscan hill country.
Not too shabby.
We ate dinner at a romantic little place around the corner from our hotel that had been recommended. Very good, but we were overcharged. Really the first time we've been ripped off this trip (to our knowledge) so we paid the bill and headed for a little gelato to cheer us up.
While we ate our gelato in the square, this musician was playing Ave Maria beautifully on his guitar.
That did the trick!
